Personal profile

Godwin Okafor is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ, Leicester. He was previously a Lecturer in Economic Development at Southampton Solent University, UK.

He had his PhD from Bournemouth University, UK. His PhD focussed mainly on Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth in Sub-Saharan Africa. During his PhD, he was an Associate Lecturer in Economics and Finance at Bournemouth University. Godwin also has an MA (2011) degree in International Business with Economics from Bournemouth University, UK.

Godwin’s research interests are in the areas of International Economics, Economic Development and Global Economic Challenges. Within International Economics his main interest is on foreign direct investment, international trade, foreign aid, and remittances. Research related to Economic Development includes economic growth, governance (political instability and corruption), impact of fiscal and monetary policies, and economic activity and policy that are directed towards achieving economic development goals.

Godwin’s research interests have generated plenty outputs in the form of, accepted, submitted, and working papers; book contribution; and presentations at international conferences. Similarly, he reviews for a number of international journals including the Journal of Developing Areas, Comparative Economics, African Development Review, International Review of Applied Economics, Thunderbird International Business Review, International Business Review, etc. Godwin also supervises PhD students.
