Sustainable Development Goals

¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ is one of only 17 global academic hubs across the world – and the only one in the United Kingdom.

¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ is the lead university for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities and was appointed in 2025 for a three-year term.

The university works with the U.N. as the chair of SDG 11 with three other universities, who lead as vice-chairs on teaching and education; outreach and partnership; and research.

Work on SDG 11 and the rest of the goals is co-ordinated through the SDG Impact Hub, in Heritage House, on the campus.

It is a great honour to be the only UK university to be a lead global academic hub, but that also brings with it great responsibility. It is a role we take with great responsibility and are committed to exposing students, staff, and the general public to understand and work on all the SDGs, not just goal 11, and empowering them to do something positive for the future of our world.
