Personal profile

Isobel is a tutor/lecturer in Community and Criminal Justice and a module leader for the new Professional Qualification in Probation (PQiP) the Graduate Diploma in Probation Studies and BA (Hons) in Community and Criminal Justice.

Isobel worked for the National Probation Service for many years and has considerable experience as a Fieldwork and Courts team Probation Officer; Specialist Practice Teacher; Practice Development Assessor; Senior Probation Officer managing fieldwork teams; Training, Development and Diversity Manager. At different points in her career, Isobel was employed by both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Probation Services and latterly, the Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire and Rutland CRC. 

During her career with the Probation Services, Isobel gained considerable experience in multi-agency work; planning and delivering training and representing the Service at various training and development groups including Derby City and Derbyshire Safeguarding Children Board, Derbyshire Safeguarding Adults Board, Derbyshire MAPPA. Experienced in the planning and delivery of training for all levels of staff within the Probation Service,

Isobel also took a lead in the selection, recruitment and training of trainee probation officers in Derbyshire Probation Trust.

Research interests/expertise

Research interests lie in the field of Probation work and the Criminal Justice System.
