¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ welcomes latest cohort of its senior leader programme


Managers nationwide are advancing their careers by enrolling in the Senior Leader Apprenticeship (SLA) programme at ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ Leicester (¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ).

Since its launch in 2018, the course has supported more than 230 learners, delivered in partnership with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). This work-based programme lasts between 18 and 24 months, and is tailored for professional strategic leaders in private, public, and third- sector organisations, and for individuals who lead, manage and direct organisations.

Learners blend on-the-job experience with academic learning on campus and enhance their work through independent study with support from senior staff at their workplaces.

On successful completion of the programme, learners will earn a Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 7 Award in Leadership and Management, and gain a fast track path to achieving Chartered Manager Status, as well as a postgraduate diploma. These qualifications not only enhances learners' academic credentials but also significantly boosts their professional standing and career advancement opportunities.

Among the companies collaborating with ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ are Leicestershire County Council, Cambridge and Counties Bank and Mosaic 1898, a Leicestershire based charity working to provide life-enhancing services, care and opportunities for disabled people (and all those supporting them), promoting inclusion, equality, independence, choice, empowerment, respect and dignity for all.

Zoheb Shariff, Chief Executive at Mosaic 1898, has joined the course to fine-tune his leadership skills, and to further the mission and enrich the lives of disabled people across Leicestershire, Leicestershire and Rutland. Zoheb also recently joined the ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ Business and Law advisory board.

Kate Revell, Commissioner for Adult Social Care Services at Leicestershire County Council, enrolled on the course to enhance her leadership and management skills to benefit her team. She said: “This is a great opportunity for me to develop myself and become more effective as a leader and manager, and I can bring this knowledge back to my team”

Cambridge and Counties bank have also been working with ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ to create learning and development opportunities for its staff for two years.  
Suzanne Newport, Head of Operational Risk at Cambridge and Counties Bank, said: “The course will help my career by enabling me to learn more executive and strategic skills while enhancing my business knowledge. I'm really excited to interact with other professionals on the course and learn from them too!”

Marie Thompson, programme leader, said: “Delighted to welcome our next cohort of brilliant Senior Leaders to ¸Ô±¾ÊÓƵ, it is a privilege to be able to build on their knowledge, skills and behaviours and aid them to thrive in what they do!"
